When you see an original sash window placed next to one of our Heritage windows, you will notice that the dimensions and proportions are the same, and that the window sash similarly sits flush against the window frame when the window is closed. It simply isn’t viable to use wood to construct the frame, not in this day and age. We prefer to use a composite material that looks like wood and offers low-maintenance and outstanding thermal efficiency. We have mechanically joined and welded the window to make it usable in conservation areas.

The vast majority of window buyers opt to have a plain glass Heritage window, but we have other glazing options for the product. This includes privacy glass if you have a desire to stop anyone on the outside of your house from being able to see too much of what’s going on indoors. 19th Century sash timber windows would always have a painted finish, instead of the now customary stained finish. Offering painted finishes isn’t an option we would consider as they wash away too easily when exposed to the elements. We employ a very sophisticated colouring method to help ensure our finishes last. If you get torn between two finishes and can’t decide which of the two you like most, have them both.
